Interview with Ashli Steele
Where are you from?
“Born and raised in Cleveland, OH with rich Southern family ties. I’m currently residing in Los Angeles.”
What is your ethnic background?
“African-American, also I’m usually asked what I’m mixed with pretty often.”
What are your measurements?
“5’4” 160 lbs 36-28-44”
How often do you work out to keep your measurements tight?
” I get to the gym 4-5 times a week! It feels good to take care of myself. Not only does it benefit my career but it benefits my overall quality of life.”
What do you think is your best physical attribute?
” I’d have to say my smile. I get a lot of compliments on it. Others may have another suggestion ..”
What are some of your current projects?
” I’ve got several magazine features coming as well as music videos and personal videos on my website! http://www.ashlisteele.com launches October 2013! I was also in the “Drop Bandz On It” video that dropped recently.”
What are some of your goals you want to accomplish?
“I just signed with a casting agency and have gotten into background acting in movies (first one comes out in early 2014). One of my goals is to get into commercials.”
What type of projects are you most interested in?
“I honestly can’t pick a favorite, I enjoy doing them all! Photoshoots are great when you and the photographer have chemistry. Good chemistry can result in a magazine cover (I’ve had 3 now) or an awesome feature! Being on a video set however is exhilarating! Being able to mingle and network is always beneficial and usually a lot of fun!”
How would you best describe your personality?
“I would say I’m very lively and outgoing. I enjoy a good time and good company more than anyone. Sarcasm is my second language. I’m the description of a Leo to a tee. Rawrrr!”
What are some of your guilty pleasures?
“Anything edible and men’s jewelry.”
Who do you look up to most in the industry?
“I admire a lot of the photographers I’ve worked with. Without them where would my career be?”
What was your most memorable shoot that you have done?
“My most memorable shoot would have to be the “Drop Bandz On It” shoot. I met a lot of great people, got to see friends I hadn’t seen in a while and even made some new ones!”
Biggest obsession: Clothes, Shoes or Bags?
“Easy. Shoes … you can ruin a good outfit if you don’t have the right shoes.”
On a scale of 1-10, how do you rate your wild side?
“I guess it would depend on your definition of wild. I’ll say 8 .. I’m very spontaneous and lovey trying new things at least once (twice if I like it .. three times just to be sure lol). I’m not, however, going to bungee jump blindfolded on a unicycle … No.”
What is something about you that people would be surprised to know?
“I’m really quite the closet nerd. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Media Design, which has allowed me to design and develop websites and other promotional materials for small start up companies and individuals. I’ve been leaning more toward the entertainment industry with my clientele lately, working most recently with photographer Alcole (@alcolestudios) on some flyers for use on social media. Lastly, I LOVE to play Call of Duty and I can probably kick your ass. Add MissShortStax on PS3 to get served! Ha!”
What are some of your turns-ons and turn-offs.
“Turn ons: nice teeth, broad shoulders, a sense of humor, honesty, and the ability to make me feel safe. Turn offs: stupidity mainly, bad smells .. and liars”
Where else can we see you on the web?
” GGurls, WizDailyDose, BubbleShake and coming soon to several others.”
Any special shout outs?
“Hi Mom! Special shoutouts to Marquest Edwards (@MQTease) and Trevon Keene (@trey209) for helping me find myself in this crazy industry! They’re both amazing photographers! Last but not least Glen Infante (@gleninfante) of @ILTHY for having faith in me in the very beginning and trusting me to represent their brand.”
