Avonte Biography

The gorgeous Avonte orginally caught the eye of Cutiecentral when she was on the cover of Blackmen magazine in 1998. Her pictures were taken by the remarkable Mark Thompson. He also shot her pictures for the Unforgettable Calandar in 2000 and 2002. There was a reason why she has made the cover twice. Yes folks, before the Esther Baxters and the Melyssa Fords of the world, the original miss thickness was Avonte. Avonte is a special blend of beauty and brains. Even though the camera was in love with her, she decided to go back to school and get her degree. Through her hard work, Avonte now has created her own skin care line Skin Amour. Now we know why Avonte looks so great. Her sweet chocolate complexion is reason enough to check out her products. Avonte is a driven person. Even though we haven't seen her in a while, she promises that we haven't seen the last of her. We certainly hope not! Avonte is H O T!

CC was lucky enough to catch Avonte between her busy schedule to answer a few questions.

Avonte's Interview with Cutiecentral.com

CC:Where you from? Currently live?

Avonte: I'm from Hollywood, FL and I'm BI-coastal living between New York and Los
Angeles.

CC: Are you single?

Avonte: No but I'm not married!

CC: You have come a long way since your first appearance in
magazines/posters/calendars.So whats new going on with your life these days?

Avonte: I've always tried to stay on top of the game, so I've started a cosmetic and Skin Care
collection called Skin Amour so right now that takes up a lot of my time but I do still invest some of my time in modeling.

CC: When you model, Do you have a signature look?

Avonte: I think my signature look is a whole all around look. I got a little something that everyone
can appreciate but that's not what I think about at a photo shoot. I try to give off different looks because the industry changes so frequently, so I think my energy at a shoot is what most photographers capture. I take on modeling like a business I don't look at it like some of the new models I've come across with an attitude like "If she can do it so can I " I just feel like that's that wrong reasons to pursue anything. I love this business that's why I do it and that's how I put my stamp on it.

CC: You represent the sexy dark chocolate women in the industry. But do you think
light-skinned women have an advantage in modeling/acting?

Avonte: I think lighter women use to have an advantage but it all depends on what market you
pursue modeling in there are different categories of Modeling like Commercial, High Fashion, Spokesmodeling, etc., and Now the new market being urban. For some reason when I first started into modeling I started in the Urban world with BlackMen's Magazine, I was there first model that didn't really have an impressive resume, yeah I did some TV features and guest-staring rolls but Halle and Tyra was gracing the cover before me so I knew my resume was not as impressive as theirs so they
took a chance on me and that part of my career had taken off from there but I did notice on my cover
picture they did make me a tone lighter which was a shook because when I first seen it I
didn't even recongnize myself. But that's how the Urban market operates, one thing may be hot this week but out of style next. So right now it's the Chocolate big juicy booty girls that are getting the focus and that's cool because they are showing the world that Curves can also = beauty.

CC: Are you as smooth as you look? Tell me about Avonte.

Avonte: Avonte is Spiritual, Determined and Focused, that's what I consider
myself. Sometimes that ride can be smooth but sometimes that ride can get a little
crazy but it's an enjoyable experience all the same.

CC: Is celibacy the new virginity?

Avonte: Celibacy should be the new virginity, it's crazy out there. I've traveled the world and back and feel like more people should put a higher value on their bodies. The girls are getting younger and giving up more, it's bananas. That's why the real women feel like they rather just be Celibate. These fellas
(or at least the fellas that step to me) should know that I don't owe them anything because their cute or have a whole lotta money in the bank. It's not that serious.

CC: What is the perfect date movie?

Avonte: The perfect date movie depends on if it's your first date or not but the perfect first date movie for me is always a controversial movie, that opens up for a lot of discussion. That's a good way to find out if your even interested in going on another date. Or if you been out with someone already and your
feeling that person then something scary, that's opens up the door for PDA (public display of Affection) because if your scared you tend to hold onto the person your with tightly, you know us women try to feel protected ;)

CC: What advice would you have for aspiring models?

Avonte: The advice I will give to aspiring models is first Love what you do, don't do it for any other reason. Stay focused and determined because your time will come. Know the business because they're a lot of people who will try to take advantage of you. Get good representation because that is always important if you are trying to work on a bigger scale. Start off with that knowledge and the rest would come with experience.

CC: Are you very selective on the jobs you take?(promotions, movies etc)?

Avonte: I'm very selective with jobs, that's probably why you haven't seen me in many video's or on magazine's lately, I'm don't want to be used up. I have a goal that I'm trying to achieve and I have to sometimes be a little more patient. I want to represent myself in a positive way, I'm not saying being sexy isn't positive because that is also who I am and I can give that off all day everyday but I'm always careful because at the end of the day, I want to be respected and known for my "Modeling" as a whole, not for just my Ass or Chest, and I get a lot of offers that what to just concentrate only on that, and I've been in the game to long to be remembered by just a body part.

CC: When you are not all dolled up, what are your favorite clothes to wear?

Avonte: When I'm not dolled up- Sweats are my best friend.

CC: Is there anything you didnt like in your experience in the industry?

Avonte: I can't say that it's anything that I didn't like in the industry because to me everything is a learning experience. I was raised well, so I never felt like I had to compromise myself unless that was the goal. I've been put in situations that was uncomfortable but that goes with the territory.

CC: What can we expect from you in the future?

Avonte: You can expect Skin Amour, that's my company... I will be giving you more hot photo's very soon, I haven't left the game, just letting a few models get there time to shine. But Avonte has not left the building.

CC: Anything special you would like to say to your fans?

Avonte: I would like to say to my fan's that I LOVE you guys for all the support, I got the best fan base anyone can have because they are loyal and they have stuck by me and for that Much Respect.
