SO many OVERRATED music artists these days

i don't understand how some of these artists these days go to #1 on the billboard charts these days or artists who has a lot of popularity. most of them r ONE dimensional. some of the artists i'm feelin in the game right now who ISN'T 1 dimensional and who has a LOAD of talent are Chris Brown, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, lil wayne.


i want yall to list your top 5 most overrated music artists in the biz.

1. Rihanna (terribly overrated. can't sing. can't dance. don't write her own songs.)
2. Britney Spears (can't sing. can't dance. i would love to hear how britney sounds acapella.

4. Plies (good guy, but overrated)

At the end of the day, anyone can be considered overrated, as music is a personal preference.

Sure, some may seem to have more talent in a concentrated area, but when it comes to mainstream attention and hype, it takes a well-rounded individual, with the right connections and right attitude to get popular/relevant and remain that way.

I couldn't boil the list down to 5 if my life depended on it. I mostly listen to independent music these days, because mainstream music, all of it, is pretty much all trash. All the artists mentioned so far, excepting those in Swizz's post, are overrated, including Beyonce, Lil Wang, Lil Boosie, Gucci Mane, Maino, Juelz Santana, Rihanna, and Chris Brown. Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Nat King Cole are spinning in their graves.

I am just saying it opened my eyes, whether the reasons were correct or incorrect. Since that time I have paid more attention to the art of singing. And with this new focus I noticed that a lot of artists are overrated. Overrated (or underrated) being, in my mind, that their true skills are not correlated with their subsequent success.
