This is something a little different I'll be doing every week. I know it's a lot of music aficianodos on this board. Time to spit some knowledge. Who you got!?!?

This week's choices features Jay-Z who released his most commercially successful CD to date in 1998 versus DMX's debut (and arguably best) CD... you know the drill... better CD... why... favorite songs

If you askin me which one I liked best I have to give this one to Hov...cause at the time I just wasn't a DMX fan.
Although this is one of my least favorite Jay-Z album...it's the first one I actually
bought....I went and bought the others afterwards and I've been hooked ever since.

DMX had the better album though.

Good Idea J. This is a tough one you leading off with too. I gave it to X (and it was his best album) only because the versatility of the album, basically How's it goin' down? pushed X's album slight ahead of Hov's IMO. Even though Hard Knock Life was one of the most amazing tracks ever. It was crazy for him to even try something like that no less for it to be as good as it was.

X man, hands down. Damn I remember the anticipation of this album coming out. I believe it was May 18th 1998. Man, I couldn't wait. Onyx dropped some hot shit the next week as well. Vol 2 was still hot, but that X was hungry and you could tell he was tryin to eat.

"Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)" is better than anything on X's whole album. I never connected much with DMX. I guess I couldn't get past the whole semi-crackhead thing.

THAT AND RESERVOIR DOGS ARE BETTER THAN ANY SONG ON X'S ALBUM IMO

Imma have to go with Jay by a hair. X's album was on point and X made on of the best song's on Jay's album hot. But overall, Jay has more tight songs and better lyrics.

I was 10-11 when these came out so I wasn't caught up in the hype. picked them up in '05
I connected wit that DMX joint right there (matter-of-fact I'm feelin slighted by that crackhead comment, did I miss somethin wit dude? I just thought he was stupid wildin')
Disc felt like a 16-yr-old fucking up alot (but yet and still feelin like the shit, though)
Plus The Prayer almost made me cry and they ended that disc, Riggghht:nod:
Jay-Z shit better but , but I played some of them DMX joints way too much
