I'm black and I don't use the n-word. I know quite a few other blacks that don't use it either. It's pretty much an impossible battle to try to get the blacks that use to stop since it's such an integral part of their everyday conversation. The problem I have is that other races use blacks saying the word as an excuse for why they want to say it. How does it benefit anyone to walk around saying n*gga this and n*gga that? Do you win a prize? Does it make you feel good? In my opinion you're just broadcasting to everyone within earshot that you're ignorant. Nobody can honestly believe that using the n-word makes you sound intelligent...it's quite the opposite. In some black communities the dumber your sound the better. It's like Chris Rock said "they like to keep it real.......real dumb". I think that has a lot to do with why some blacks use it. In the inner city were there is a high dropout rate and generally a high level of ignorance they've "learned" to embrace their ignorance and wear it like a badge. According to them the more ignorant you are the more "real" you are. It doesn't get much more ignorant than taking a word that was used to degrade your people (and is still used for the same reason) and using it to refer to yourself and everyone else. I think some professional blacks use it because they think it gives them some kind of "street cred". Actually talking like you're educated and have common sense means you're a sellout & soft, so it's better to hide your intelligence and act ignorant so more blacks can relate to you.:no:

But at the same time...other races see these blacks acting ignorant and they want to "get in on the act" and start imitating it. Ignorance is spreading like a damn disease.
