This is an interview between Henry Louis Gates Jr. and James Watson one of the biologists that discovered DNA. Watson has recently been under fire lately for suggesting that Black ppl could be genetically inferior. He attests in this interview that he was misquoted and that quotes were wrongly taken out of context. It's a really interesting subject matter. I thought I'd bring it to the forum and maybe we could get into it.
I can't believe he would use such a blanket statement as a biologist...but obviously he still did (Old World mofo).
Still, he acknowledges even though IQ tests may be low in Ethiopia its probably reasons broader than genetics.
(personally)Competitive athletes are prime examples of what genetics gives you and what it doesn't; recognizing technique, adjusting to the given situation, outwitting your opponent (all intelligence-based), and then being athletic
...makes Kobe(a black guy)=MVP
...and my high school year we had a black valedictorian, I don't think we should just toss that up to genetics.

I think that there definitely is a correlation between race and genetics. I don't know where it lies though. Where James Watson got in trouble is he suggested sterotypical varibles that really can't be proved (even by someone as brilliant as James Watson). There has been evidence that black ppl may be more susceptible to the HIV virus than there white counterparts. Also, African-Americans are more at risk to Hypertension, Diabetes, Heart disease, and Stroke than any other group of Americans. The question lies whether is this the product of genetics or other factors. I think that this is something that is definitely worth studying though, and it cannot be done simply to satisfy racist ideals but for the benefit of all.

Very interesting article.
During the South African Truth & Reconciliation Commission, it was found that South African Scientist were working on a virus that would kill native Africans but have no effect on the White population. This work was done with a lot of help from Israel, who was working on a similar virus for the people of Palestine. All work was halted after the end of Apartheid.
This work lasted for over 20 years but an effective virus was never developed.
I mention this to say that genetics/DNA of humans is pretty much the same. Its conditioning and environment that determines the differences between cultures.
In America, if you take the race issues away, how would things changes for African-Americans? I would think you would see the differences in education, life span, and all the other stuff increase for African-Americans.
The stress of being Black is a killer within itself.
Just my two cents.

I can most certainly dig that Bishop. There is definitely an economic factor that has nothing to do with genetics in the case of some African-Americans. I'd love to see some statistics for blacks verus their white counterparts on the diseases I listed in other western countries like the U.K or Canada. I wonder would the results be the same.

You have your goods and bads in every race culture etc
Also the enviormemnt you grow up in has a big effecvt on what type of body you will grow into
Stay in shcool have those parents which allow nothing outside of studying - You are going to be on the strong mental side but most likely be very week in anything physical most likely not grow above 5,10
From the streets - Play ball everyday big in sports , lifting weightsm, your body is going to grow during your growing stages at a high rapid rate, more muscle , body strength etc,
The best are the ones which have a balance of everthing in moderation during childhood years.
My dad put it to me like this you can do anything after you read a chapter on a subject each day
You will be a expert at reading
You will know how to study and take a concept you know nothing about study it to see if you want to pursue
You will be able to read!!!!
And he was right if you can read and retain all the other subjects are just extra and paths reading is the only one which you should work on because reading is what allows you to learn on anything you want .
He once said I dont care if you get straight f,s in every subject except reading , because he knew if I could read and retain/study there is no possible way my other grades could fail
None of us are 100% our race. In my opinion we all are mixed. Well Mainly in the US that is. No one is orginally from the US but the Indians as they say. So everyone else who claims to be American no matter if it is African, Caucasian, White, whatever. Our roots originally come from somewhere else
Just like since im from Louisiana, My roots come from West Africa, the Bahamas for the as they say "Colored, black side"
And on the other, My roots come from Acadia(East Canada) where some of the French settled. Later Banned to South Louisiana and were later called CAJUNS... Or as most other people would know CREOLE, but none of my Family is Creole to my knowledge, thats a whole nother thing that many BLACKS claim they are but there really not. So blacks in Louisiana really dont claim the "CAJUN" thing even though its our heritage and ancestory. But mainly we just say we are of French descent
